Gaming Warmup – how to boost your gaming performance by 200%

Warming-up before you sit down. Sounds weird, doesn’t it?

Have you ever seen any sportsman hitting the gym or doing anything without warming up? Nope. At the end of the day, esports is a sport. It foes not require very intense physical effort, but rather more fine and extremely precise and sharp movements. And these need training and warming up.

Therefore, as any wanna-be sportsman you should be in top physical shape before engaging in your favorite activity. You need a clear and oxygenated mind, good posture and the body part you’re about to use warmed up including your eyes (yes I am serious).

For the first two a series general fitness exercises will do the trick just fine: squats, pushups, crunches or jumping-jacks. Try doing 2 series of 10-20 each. Remember to start slow, don’t overdo it.

Now, you need to enable blood-flow from shoulders to fingers. Do the following in this order: shoulder rolls, elbow rolls and wrist rolls. Both directions, 10-20 each. Next, open up your palm wide then clench your fist – again 10-20 reps.

Now get your vision straight. Do 10 eye-rolls in each direction and then do the 20-20-4 exercise: look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds in each 4 direction (up,dow, left, right).

Finally, wash your hands with warm water for 30 seconds and drink a whole glass of water. You are now an esports beast. Go do beastly things.

These exercises are documented from physio therapists and optometrists and constitute a general warmup. Depending on the type of game you play and whether or not you use a PC or Console, there are further exercises which you can do. We’ll cover them in the next articles.

Be a game changer.
